Education at NCFE

NCFE aims at enriching and developing the behavior and personality of children in 1st to 12th Std. Academic, intellectual, physical, mental, social and psychological growth are important factors that are paid attention to at NCFE. The motive of teaching at NCFE is to guide our students not only towards academic excellence but most importantly the overall personality development. We teach them not only lessons in the curriculum but also the essence of life.

Academics

NCFE follows CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). The academics at NCFE is divided into:
• Primary school (1st to 5th Std)
The aim of primary education at NCFE – JBN is to cater to the natural curiosity seen in children at this stage. Exploring, questioning and knowing the why, how & where are facilitated through activity based instructions in classroom.

Our curriculum addresses uniqueness of each student and provides exposure beyond academics.
• Middle & Secondary School (6th and above)
Leadership skills, responsibility, social awareness and social interactions are encouraged in the students at these levels. Classroom instruction focuses on conceptual learning. Assessments are regularly conducted to assess the student’s learning which is appraised to the parents regularly.

Each learner receives individual attention and guidance. Various workshops are conducted to give clarity and guidance to students for their future endeavours. Personal grooming through Life skills, value education and work education is imparted to students. Regular counseling sessions are conducted to aid in developing positive attitude in students.

Our classrooms are designed to cater to the specific needs of students of all ages, providing them with a sense of security, creativity and engagement. Use of well-stacked library helps in enhancing self-study in students. This also aids in developing in students resourcefulness and builds self confidence.

Computer Science

Syllabus:
The Computer Science syllabus for I to X Std, covers the most useful applications, packages, system software and some programming languages. Additionally, students are introduced to basic hardware and peripheral devices, real-life applications of concepts.
Practical Lab Sessions:
Theory sessions are better understood through hands-on practice in lab sessions. Lab sessions ensure each student is allowed to explore the features of an application or a high level language. The combined knowledge of theory and practice, skill and logic is tested by conducting examinations at the end of each term.
Additional CCE Activities related to Computer Science:
Awareness generating activities are conducted to ensure knowledge enhancement about fast-growing technological advancements and also awareness of basic hardware and software details currently in use. Some activities held are:

• Research from the web (reading latest information)

Co-Curricular Activities

Physical Education contributes to the overall development of the student. It helps in improving physical and mental fitness. Students engaged in physical education cultivate discipline; develop team spirit, sportsmanship, individual talent, critical situation handling skills and social skills.
The benefits of physical education can affect both academic learning and physical activity patterns in students. The healthy and physically fit and active student is more likely to be academically motivated, alert and successful. Throughout the school life, physical education aids in promoting social, cooperative and problem-solving competencies.
At NCFE, students of 1st Std to 12th Std are encouraged and guided to utilize the sports and playtime hours allotted. They are taught the basic skills and drills of various outdoor games such as Football, Basketball, Cricket, Volleyball, Throw ball, Badminton, etc. Students from the lower grades are trained in the locomotors skills like walking, running, jumping, hopping, galloping, etc. Students from higher grades are trained in major games and sports; the skills and drills; and techniques and tactics.
Athletics is theoretically and practically explained and taught to them. They are also made aware of self-discipline, personal health and hygiene.
Physical fitness contributes to mental and psychological growth and well being. Physically fit children are less likely to participate in risky behaviour. Participating daily in physical activity also functions as a way for students to reduce stress levels.
Physical education in school is an essential co-scholastic education and has several benefits. According to the reports “Physical Fitness and Sports” by the California Governor’s council, students who have regular physical education classes increase their self-esteem, social development, weight control, stress management, motor skill development and academic performance.
Awareness of various aspects of a healthy body is imparted here namely being active, exercising and eating right to maintain a healthy body.
Physical education is important for all age groups and especially children as their bones and muscles undergo continuous growth and development. Physical education helps teach the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, mutual support amongst student crowd, organizing self and others and communication skills.

Arts and Crafts

Arts and crafts teach children to learn in different ways and approach problems and challenges creatively. In turn, creativity promotes brain activity.
Co-scholastic education at NCFE includes art as a major influential aspect to children. Students learn different methods of art through various hands-on practical experiences. Art is always taught and tested in children based on the strong assumption that every child is creative.
Children develop the skills of invention, creativity, sensitivity, concentration power and imagination through artwork. Art education helps children to improve their self-initiated learning, willingness to consider new ideas and also a close look at things. Children are provided with various opportunities and platforms to showcase their talents within the school as well as in external competitions and exhibitions.

Music

Creativity is an essential aspect in today’s economic world. Music is an art form that inculcates creative thinking. Education and exposure in the arts is very vital for a child’s growth and harmony.
To be successful our children need to be resourceful, creatively thinking and empowered. A well-rounded curriculum displays complete education and music plays a major role in completing this.
Music allows an individual to express feelings without having the necessity of words and that gives way to an emotional artistic outlet.
Music classes are conducted as a part of the regular curriculum during the normal school hours. Students learn music theoretically and have practical sessions to have hands-on experience as well. The theory classes include Indian and Western music notations practice. Children not only learn music but also get to know the life history of various musicians and related topics. The music room at National Centre for Excellence has various types of musical instruments like Keyboard, Drums, Harmonium, Tabla, Congo, Mridangam to name some. Children are allowed to exhibit their talent in functions held at school.

Dance

Dance is one of the most expressive forms of art. The divinity of the art can be expressed through various styles. Dance provides for physical activity in a child and in turn, promotes mental and psychological well being. Dance helps in building and developing self-control and social skills such as co-operation, peer interaction, self-esteem and more. Learning dance enhances a child’s academic performance and physical well-being.
Every style of dance reflects the nativity, culture, grandeur and the associated regional heritage. The current and forthcoming generations have the responsibility to respect and preserve this form of art through learning, understanding its importance and performing with due respect.
Music classes are conducted as a part of the regular curriculum during the normal school hours. Dance as a part of curriculum promotes contentment and happiness in a child as it is a way of expression through movement and co-ordination.

Yoga

Exercises and postures that benefit different parts of the body are demonstrated and performed. Asanas are graded according to the age and experience of the student.

Life Skills

As the children grow, their roles, responsibilities, aspirations and environmental context changes. This brings about the need for developing new insights in life skills. Our Objectives of imparting life skill education are
1. To help students understand that joy of living is a result of holistic development of personality.
2. To encourage students to initiate measures that will help him become healthy at the physical, mental and spiritual level.

Competitions

Human life is full of competitions.There is no doubt, education is the secret key of human success and the roots of education lie in competition. A child is born without knowledge and skills, and they continuously participate in competitions in every stage of life, developing skills and knowledge through the learning process. We at school conduct competitions to encourage students to adopt innovative techniques and develop their ideas and skills.
